HOW TO EXPERIENCE A CHRISTMAS MARKET AT HOME

HOW TO EXPERIENCE A CHRISTMAS MARKET AT HOME - Dreamers who Travel

It's 2020 and we are in full lockdown here in the UK, even if restrictions ease we know this festive season will look very different this year. One of the experiences we will miss the most over the coming months is visiting the Christmas Market both here in the UK and abroad.

CHRISTMAS MARKET AT HOME

Last year, we had some wonderful Christmas Market trips including London, Birmingham and Manchester. Previous years have seen us also explore the markets in Europe including in Germany and Belgium.

A mug of mulled wine and a bratwurst with friends is such a wonderful afternoon out. Although we might not be doing it this year, you can bring the Christmas Market experience to your home instead.

CHRISTMAS MARKET AT HOME

Heat up the mulled wine

The first stop at any Christmas Market is a mug of mulled wine on a cold winters afternoon to help warm up. In our home-based market, we used our Dreamers who Travel enamel mugs to help keep the wine warmer for longer after heating it on the oven top.

Make your own bratwursts

Some brioche hot dog buns and tasty sausages bring the taste of Germany home. We cooked up some onions (adding Worcester sauce) and fried our sausages. As we've tucked the bbq away for winter, we used the kitchen stove and took our food outside. Remember to add in your festive napkins for an festive feel.

Dress for the occasion

You will need to wrap up and of course, no Christmas Market would be complete without a Christmas Jumper. We recommend our super cosy Ho Ho Holiday Sweatshirt to add some festive cheer!

Add some winter warmth

Spending time in the garden during the colder months is unusual but we're not in a usual year. Turn on some twinkly outdoor lights and for some atmosphere add in your fire pit to provide some much-needed warmth.

Although for our own Christmas Market at home we were fortunate with the weather, it shows you can get some pleasant and dry days in the UK during the winter months. It might not be quite the same but holding a Christmas Market at home helps add in a little bit of festive spirit for 2020!
